Our Story
Started with one idea: the outdoors shouldn't feel exclusive.
Started with one idea: the outdoors shouldn't feel exclusive.

Pine Ops Outdoors started on a cool, rainy spring morning — at the headstone of founder Al Marrero's father. When Al finished talking to his dad, the clouds broke and the sun came through. And with it came an overwhelming pull to get outside.
The problem: he couldn't pick the adventure. Ride downhill trails? Cast a line? Hike? Kayak? So he did all of it. Bike in the truck, kayak strapped on top, fishing gear in the back. He hiked a local mountain, ripped singletrack through the woods, and ended the day fishing from his kayak.
Somewhere in that day, it hit him: there was no brand — no community — built around everything outdoors. Not just hiking. Not just fishing. Not one niche. All of it.
That's the day Pine Ops Outdoors was born.
Al grew up in New England, where pine forests are part of who you are. Pines hold their color through every season — heat, cold, dark, snow — and keep standing in alpine zones where almost nothing else survives. They symbolize resilience.
The "Ops" is a direct nod to Al's eight years in the U.S. Army as a Military Police and Corrections Officer. It stands for being prepared, staying squared away, and moving through life with purpose and intention.
Not everyone around you shares every outdoor passion. Some people hike. Some fish. Some ride. Some climb. Pine Ops exists to bring all of them together — a hub for like-minded people who want to explore, challenge themselves, and build community through the outdoors.
You don't need to be a sponsored athlete to wear Pine Ops. You don't need to be the best climber, the fastest rider, or the biggest fisherman.
Real outings. Real community. Real adventures. Whether you've been on the trails your whole life or you're lacing up boots for the first time, you belong here.
Every division represents a part of the lifestyle — the water, the mountains, the trails, the woods, the snow, the road trips, the campsites. All of it.
We're not a discount brand and we're not fast fashion. Every piece of Pine Ops apparel is selected for durability, fit, and craftsmanship — built for trails, water, campfires, and weather that doesn't care about your outfit.
The very first design was for the MTB Division, because nothing compares to ripping down a singletrack trail with the trees whipping by. And every design since has started with the same question: "Would I wear this myself?"
Behind Pine Ops are the people who pushed it forward. Al's fiancée — his rock — who reminds him why he started whenever things get hard. A close friend who loved the vision and kept telling Al to run with it while they ripped side-by-sides through northern New Hampshire, and who passed away before he could see it become real.
And Al's dad — his best friend, his mentor, his biggest supporter — still the driving force behind everything.
